Have you ever wondered why you struggle to lose weight, even when you follow a diet and exercise plan? Have you ever felt like you slef sabotage your own progress whenever you get close to your goal weight? Have you ever used your extra fluff as a way to hide from being visible and vulnerable?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone. I have been there too. I have lost and gained weight multiple times in my life, and I have realized that there is more to it than just calories and hormones. There was a psychological component that I had to face and overcome.

I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire you to join me on this journey of ditching the scale and focusing solely on your health.

Why I Hid Behind My Fluff

When I was younger, I developed really early. I got a lot of attention from men and others that I wasn’t prepared for. I got teased and called Dolly Parton all the time. I didn’t like the attention on my body. I felt uncomfortable and vulnerable.

That’s when I started to keep a little extra fluff on me. I was never really obese, but I wasn’t skinny either. I hid it well, but I still had the extra fluff. It was my way of being invisible, of being safe, of being comfortable.

Throughout my life, I repeated this pattern. Whenever I was in a loving relationship, or I thought I was, and I gained a few pounds, the boyfriend would make a comment or leave, and that weight became the issue. It was easier to hide behind the excess weight than to truly live as my best self.

The same thing happened when I tried to lose weight. I would get halfway or three quarters of the way to my goal, and then something would happen. I would start self-sabotaging. I would say, oh, well, I’m not disciplined enough. I don’t have enough willpower. And then I would hear all the internet saying, well, it has nothing to do with that. It’s hormones, it’s insulin, it’s leptin, it’s this, it’s that.

But what if it wasn’t any of those things? What if it was so far out of my comfort zone to be seen, that it was easier to hide behind my fluff?

How I Decided to Stop Hiding and Start Living

I’m now at a point in my life where I can’t hide behind that fluff anymore. I need to be healthy. I have people depending on me that I need to take care of. I have a mission to help others who are struggling like I did.

So I decided to face my fear and step out of my comfort zone. I decided to stop focusing on the scale and start focusing on holistic health.

Holistic health is complete health. It’s not just about your physical appearance, it’s about your mind, your body, and your soul being in alignment. It’s about being aware of why you do certain things, and how you can change them. It’s about finding things you love to do and bring joy to others. It’s about being present and being part of something bigger than yourself.

When I started to focus on holistic health, I noticed a lot of changes. I started to eat better, not because I wanted to lose weight, but because I wanted to nourish my brain and my body. I started to move more, not because I wanted to burn calories, but because I wanted to have more energy and enjoy life more. I started to be more confident, not because I wanted to impress others, but because I wanted to express myself and my values.

And you know what? The weight started to come off naturally. But it didn’t matter as much as it did before. Because I was happy and healthy, and that’s what mattered the most.

How You Can Join Me on This Journey

If you are ready to stop hiding behind your fluff and embrace holistic health, I invite you to join me on this journey. I want you to know that I see you, I understand you, and I want to help you.

The first step is to look at your patterns and figure out why you are more comfortable being fluffy, even if you are physically uncomfortable. What are you afraid of? What are you avoiding? What are you missing?

The next step is to say to yourself, I am worth being healthy. You are worth being healthy. You deserve to be happy and confident. You deserve to shine.

The last step is to take a small step outside of your comfort zone. Find something that you are comfortable trying that will push you outside of your comfort zone. Maybe it’s going out with your friends and not drinking one night. Maybe it’s trying a new activity or hobby. Maybe it’s saying no to something that doesn’t serve you. Whatever it is, do it with courage and curiosity.

Remember, small changes lead to big results. You don’t have to do everything at once. You just have to do something that will move you forward.

And I will be here with you, every step of the way. I will share with you my tips, my insights, my struggles, and my successes. I will be your cheerleader, your supporter, your friend.

So, are you ready to join me? Are you ready to ditch the scale and focus on holistic health? If you are, let me know in the comments below. I would love to hear from you and connect with you.
